The Pininfarina Battista, an electric hyper GT, has impressive speed capabilities. It can reach 60mph (100km/h) faster than an F1 car and exceed speeds of 180mph (290km/h) before an F-16 fighter jet. The arrangement of the 120 kWh T-shaped battery, which is cooled with liquid and consists of a blend of nickel, manganese and lithium, is designed to enhance the vehicle’s performance capabilities.
The production of the car is limited to only 150 units, out of which 50 are designated for the US market, with half of those already reserved by eager customers. Another 50 are set for release in both Europe and Asia. Sergio, the son of the founder who passed away in 2012 at 85, was responsible for designing some of the most iconic sports cars and supercars of the 20th and 21st century, including several Ferrari models like the Testarossa (1984), Enzo (2002), and the Dino series (1968-76), which helped Ferrari break into the mass market. Today, the Pininfarina firm is chaired by Battista’s grandson Paolo, who considers it a dream come true to release a car carrying the Pininfarina name as a tribute to his grandfather. The vehicle features a single-cell carbon-fibre monocoque with battery packs located between the front seats and behind the rear bulkhead. It is equipped with four motors – one per wheel, and the T-shaped liquid-cooled 120 kWh battery is made from a blend of lithium, manganese, and nickel, designed to optimise the car’s dynamics. While the majority of owners are expected to charge their vehicles at home, the company anticipates app-based charging networks to be available by 2021 to serve the remaining 10% of customers.

The cockpit design features two screens located on both sides of a compact steering wheel, each angled towards the driver. All the essential information is displayed on a slim center screen, and rotors beneath it are ergonomically refined to change drive mode settings. Formula E racer Nick Heidfeld has nearly 20 years of motor racing experience to draw upon to tune the car’s performance.
Within the confines of the cockpit, there exist a pair of displays positioned on either side of a small yet functional steering apparatus. These screens are cleverly angled toward the driver for optimal visibility and ease of use.
