The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo, originally designed for the Gran Turismo video game series, has been leaked online in a real-life photograph. Ferrari built a full-scale model of the car that represents the future of its road and racing cars. The Italian automaker said that aspects of the concept car would appear in future road-going models. Collaborating with Gran Turismo allowed Ferrari to create a vision of the future without constraint, born from the company’s unrivalled understanding of engineering, aerodynamics, and future technologies. Designing the Ferrari Vision GT allowed Ferrari to push the boundaries in all areas and explore new languages to create a style manifesto for the future of the marque.
The main idea behind the design of the Vision Gran Turismo is its aerodynamics. The designers have put a lot of effort into creating a rear wing, diffuser, and air vents that can provide maximum downforce. The transparent materials used in the interior of the car reflect the see-through engine cover on the exterior, giving an unobstructed view of the steering wheel components. The body of the concept is structured to appear as if it’s floating above the flat carbon-fiber underbody.
Ferrari has taken cues from its iconic sports cars of the 60s and 70s to create the Vision Gran Turismo. The design is heavily influenced by the 330 P3 and 512 S models, embodying their DNA. A full-scale prototype of the supercar will be showcased at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from December 15, 2021 to March 2023.
Ferrari is set to introduce its digital version on Gran Turismo 7 on December 23, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the 125 S, Ferrari’s first-ever racing car. The vehicle’s power will come from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which is also present in the 296 GTB and the new 499P. With a top speed of 217 mph (350km/h) and an acceleration of under two seconds to reach 60 mph, the hypercar boasts impressive performance capabilities. Additionally, the concept car weighs only 1250kg and has a weight distribution of 43.5 percent at the front and 56.5 percent at the rear. Meanwhile, McLaren Solus GT is another notable car to look out for.
